A BRIEF TRAGEDY OF FLESH

Barefoot, following a light that was never there,

flickering in and out of existence.

If the weight of mortality doesn't grow lighter,

does it at least get more familiar?

Cities are built by man, and

they decay by nature;

Entropy always comes for its due.

People, places, but nameless faces.

The longing to touch and be touched —

in this terrifying world,

all we have are the connections we make.
